Biography
Prof.Dr.M.S.Kabir Jewelv has an extensive and distinguished career in psychiatry, beginning his journey in Saudi Arabia in 2009. Initially, he worked as a Specialist Psychiatrist and later transitioned to a Child Psychiatry Consultant. His tenure included significant experience in the Addiction ward, providing him with a deep understanding of addiction, child psychiatry, adult psychiatry, and counseling psychiatry.
Currently, Dr. Kabir serves as the Head of the Psychiatry Department at Sir Salimullah Medical College & Mitford Hospital, the second-largest government medical college in Bangladesh. In this role, he addresses a wide range of mental health issues and has introduced a Campus Mental Health program aimed at supporting the mental well-being of medical, engineering, and university students. The results of this initiative have been highly effective.
Dr. Kabir leads a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, psycho-social workers, clinical psychologists, school psychologists, and registered behavior therapists (RBT). Together, they provide comprehensive mental health services. Additionally, they operate two prestigious clinics in Dhaka's affluent areas, Gulshan and Uttara, offering various behavioral therapies, ABA, OT, SST, and CST.
Dr. Kabir's educational background is equally impressive. He holds an MBBS, BCS (Health), M.Phil (Neuro-Psychiatry), and an MD (Psychiatry) from Bangladesh. In 2008, he received a fellowship from Tokyo, Japan, after attending the 104th Conference in Symbasi, Tokyo. He also successfully passed the Saudi Commission for Health Specialty (SCHS) exam in Psychiatry in 2011 with 69% marks, a USA-based Prometric exam.
During his time in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Kabir built strong relationships with his Arab and Egyptian colleagues and worked with a Russian colleague, gaining experience in transcultural psychiatry. He is actively involved in research, particularly focusing on Non-Suicidal Self Injury (NSSI).
