The application of nanotechnology has the ability to assist in the transport of pharmaceuticals and small molecules across the blood–brain barrier, assist in maintaining neuronal function, and strengthen neuro-protective approaches, particularly those utilizing fullerene molecules. Nanoparticles could increase medicines bioavailability and pharmacokinetics, especially improving safety and efficacy of psychotropic medicines.
